Welcome to Benny's World
Benny’s World was a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation established in 2008 to fund research to find a cure for pediatric brain stem tumors and raise public awareness of pediatric cancer. Benny's World was dissolved as a non-profit foundation in December 2024. During it's existence it raised more than $190,000 for pediatric cancer research. Funds raised by Benny's World were used to support the grants awarded by the DIPG Collaborative, and the Neuro-Oncology Research Fund at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
Funding for pediatric cancer from both the public and private sector accounts for less than 3% of all cancer funding. Benny's brain tumor is fortunately very rare, but unfortunately this also means it receives very limited funds for researching a cure. Treatments discovered for adult brain tumors are not always appropriate for children, however, pediatric cancer research has been very important in understanding the basic biology of cancer, developing treatments for adults and providing principles of therapy and advances for other diseases of children and adults.
Benny's World is no longer accepting donations however we encourage you to continue to support the work of the DIPG Collaborative. Donations can be made to The Cure Starts Now or any foundation currently participating in the collaborative.
The DIPG Collaborative seeks a balance of research transparency, institutional collaboration, strategy and the elimination of duplication. The DIPG Collaborative funds both clinical and translational research worldwide.
